Road to the Northern 2012

It’s about flippin’ time. Back in 2008 when i first decided to compete, the northern was my goal. 4 weeks out i looked at julie lohre and said, “i don’t think i’m gonna be ready”. she replied in her sweet voice, “i don’t think so either but lets pick a later show”. haha. so we decided on the cincinnati. i think its time to make that goal, what do yall think?
so i’m 20 weeks out. i’m in full contest mode, and have been for 5 weeks. i lost 3 lbs that first month with calories and carbs decently high and no cardio, and one cheat meal a week. Julie pinched me last week and i’m at a good starting point this far out. cals and carbs are staying where they are but cardio started this week. and i won’t take away cheats completely, yet. i mean my bday is next week and then thanksgiving the next (won’t miss that one) but then ill be good and just have a higher calorie day once a week until christmas and i’ll have that meal as well.
every prep i do something a little different. this time its more mental and spiritual changes than physical prep. what i mean is, every prep i grow mentally stronger and spiritually bc i find myself leaning on God for strength. this time is different, i’m not going into it for myself. i’m going into this prep doing it for Him. this body is not my own, and i want to use this journey to grow closer to God, and i want Him to use this experience to reach others and help them on their journey to the show or other fitness goals.
Romans 12:1…present your body a living sacrafice, holy and acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service. Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous, have no fear, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go. Proverbs 31:17 She dresses herself in strength and makes her arms strong. Ecclesiastes 9:10 whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
I want to keep these verses close to my heart the next 20 weeks to give me strength to over come. I want to have a better attitude through this prep than i’ve ever had before. i want to lift my teammates and fellow competitors up, espeically when things get really hard. i want to be strong for them. on top of these goals, i of course want to come in my personal best as i want for every show, and i also vow to stretch more and try to get more sleep ;) . A yoga class a week? sounds like a plan!
so lets do this!
