Five days into life…

Well it’s Wednesday evening and I figured I would just jot down a few things that have taken place since stepping foot on stage Saturday evening. I am currently eating an entire bag of green beans from the freezer – unlimited veggies baby! Saturday was…

Life after the last show. Please, do not tell me I am in my off-season.

Off-season. No, I am not in off-season. For me, this term is not going to work. I am going to call what I am in “life.” Let me explain.I have no future show planned. I can’t say I am never going to set foot on stage again, but I need to step away for a…

Success is in the Eye of the Beholder

Success is in the eye of the beholder.

When I started training with Julie, yes I wanted to get in better shape, look better, and eat better. But honestly, I set out to win. I wanted that trophy. I had to win a show. I wanted some “artifact” that said I was better then anyone else who chose to compete on stage that day. I wanted validation.

A trophy feels great. Placing feels amazing. But is this success?

It is success. It represents part of my success. But only a small part.

Success is me standing in black capris and a sports bra, fully confident that I am a healthy and fit, strong and giving, determined and hard working woman who has left a positive mark somewhere along the way. Success is recognizing and seeing changes in myself.

As John Wooden said, “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” I pushed, through the pain, through the hunger, through the criticism, through the distractions. I overcame obstacles I never thought I could, I earned the respect of many and the disdain of others, I inspired a few, and not only did I find myself, I found an incredible group of friends in Team Fitbody that I will always look to as family.

So as this season comes to an end, and this chapter of my journey ends, I can reflect back and know that it has been a total success. And for that, I am forever thankful.

What is your picture of success?

I mean, if it’s only for 12 weeks…

This lifestyle is tough. If eating clean 24/7, demolishing your workouts day in and day out no matter how sore you are, drinking a gallon of water, remembering to take your supplements, and getting enough sleep were easy – then we would be a much healt…
