Who: Me, myself, and I
What: Food Preparation
Where: My kitchen
When: 2 hours Saturday afternoon
Why: No guess work at meal time
It’s done! I have 5 days of food cooked, weighed, and separated into meals. Ahhh…the sweet feeling of success.
I prep my meals every 5 days or so. It’s great when it falls on a weekend day, but sometimes it happens after work. I go to the grocery store – throw the necessities in the cart – and head home to cook! I am so used to my meal plan and options that shopping usually doesn’t take much more then 15 minutes. Last season I didn’t have such a disciplined schedule of meal prep, and only a few weeks into this season, I am noticing the changes and ease of meal time with everything planned ahead.
After the grocery store, it’s home to start cooking. Cooking went fast! I must be getting good at this meal prep thing! I turned on the Christmas tunes and got to work…
Here is what Chef Katie whipped up:
I started with sauteed zucchini and onions – 8 zucchini and 2 onions. I had these going while I was prepping other food.
1. Chicken with Ms. Dash plus veggies
2. Ground beef plus veggies
3. French toast
4. Carb Master Yogurt with Oats and an Apple
5. 2 scoops UMP with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
1 gallon of Crystal Light Fruit Punch and 1 gallon of Crystal Light Margarita Flavor.
This makes me smile! 5 days ready to go! |
These are the first 5 meals on my plan in no particular order – I mix them up often based on what I am feeling like and try to eat the chicken early in the day to get it over with. I am not much of a chicken fan and am growing rather tired of it. Therefore, I have Laura’s Lean Beef this week – 96/4. What a treat 🙂
I had allotted 2 hours for this event – but it took just over an hour and a half. Yep, that’s right – I’m getting faster at this!
I didn’t forget my sixth meal. My sixth meal is not prepped. This meal is 1 scoop of UMP and a Carb Master Yogurt. I use the UMP before my weight workouts, and if I don’t lift I save it for my final meal. I have the Carb Master right before bed.
In my opinion, proper food preparation is essential to contest prep success. It helps give you complete control over your meals – if it’s not prepped – it’s not eaten. It’s that simple.
