NPC Northern KY Post-Show |
I got a trophy this weekend. I went into this show with the goal of placing top 5. It is a dream come true. But, as I type this (waiting on my oven to heat up so I can prep my meals for the week), I am completely overcome with tears of happiness, literally rolling down my face, at how happy I am to have this experience, to be walking along this path, and to be surrounded by the most genuine people in my life.
This trophy represents so much more then a 4th place finish at the 2013 NPC Northern Kentucky. It represents…
- Every 4:43am alarm I sprung up to, threw on my gym clothes, and gave it my all on the step mill
- The countless spears of asparagus, pounds of turkey, and gallons of water consumed to come in at my best
- The love, support, and determination Team FITBODY has empowered me with
- Every happy hour I skipped and every temptation I passed up
- The tears I’ve cried wondering if I would ever be good enough
- 11 weeks of no cheat meals and no fruit
- My desire and hope to make my family proud
- Every quarter turn practiced and time spent posing
- The desire to always improve
- How success really is possible if you follow the plan, listen to your trainer, and listen to your body
- The need to achieve and work hard. Harder then I knew was possible.
- Strength. Determination. Love of sport. Love of health. Love of my body.
- A dream. A big dream. And it is such a dream come true.
So yes, I am beyond excited to have won a trophy and placed. I’m competitive and cannot deny it. Of course if I am competing in something, I want to win. But this sport, is like non other. You never know quite who you are competing against and judging is subjective. So in the end, the competition is with yourself. Dream big, work harder! New goals, new dreams…off to chase em…
