What a great weekend. I was blessed with another fabulous family vacation. We went sailing, to the beaches, shopping, and enjoyed watching the Buckeyes win their season opener and the Urban era begin at a fun outdoor sports bar. And guess what?!? I ate like an American – which is not good. Well, I guess that is not entirely true. I had UMP morning and night, ate lots of veggies, enjoyed some fresh fruit, and drank lots of water. I did not consume any regular soda and did not eat any french fries…however, I did enjoy many beers, incredible home made cake batter ice cream, the best thin crust pizza I have ever had, and a phenomenal home cooked Italian meal (but I only had the homemade meat sauce and salad, no pasta) So, I indulged, yes. Did I think about it too much? Probably. Did I make each “cheat” a good one? Most definitely. Did I have an experience of a lifetime? Of course. Do I regret a thing? No. Therefore I am proud of myself. What a mental struggle! My favorite cheat meal has to be my pancakes. There is a little place called Skittles in Bonita Springs that serves whole wheat pancakes, that are huge and delicious. I had a plain whole wheat and a blueberry one. So good! Fresh blueberries and healthy tasting pancakes. They are so filling and good. Yes I was a clean plater – the only one at the table.
Best. Pancakes. Ever. |
So after an enjoyable trip, I returned home to empty my work email inbox – and two hours later I began my food prep for the week. This week is Operation Clean Up. Clean eating is back! I am ready. Ready to get my body back. Ok…so I bet within two days I will look exactly like I did when I left. However, it’s time to get lean! Bulk! Get strong! And start preparing for next spring, next fall…whenever I am ready. But it’s time. I miss the focus. I miss the strict discipline. I’m going to take my plans from Julie, organize it all, go shopping for more healthiness, get my workouts scheduled like my meetings, officially join a new gym tomorrow, and continue on my quest to be the best me. I needed this vacation. I ran. I lifted. I tried some great food. I enjoyed several beers. I returned feeling refreshed, relaxed, and tan. I absolutely cannot wait to see what I can do. Tomorrows meals are packed, gym bag is ready to go, and alarm clock is set for some early morning Insanity!
