Relief for sore muscles

Bath Salts. No, not the ones we have seen recently in the news. I am speaking specifically about Epsom salt.  It is composed of two minerals: Sulfate and Magnesium, both of which are beneficial to various functions of the body. Epsom salt is particularly helpful in reducing recovery time, thus keeping your training on track.

Taking a bath infused with Epsom salts can help reduce inflammation, relax muscles, and improve sleep, all of which are important in the recovery process while training. Magnesium Sulfate is absorbed through the skin and adequate therapeutic effects can be achieved by adding two cups of Epsom salts to a regular-sized bathtub, or double for a larger sized tub.  Try to do this at least one to three times a week a few hours after a tough workout for 15-20 minutes.  You can even add modifiers to plain Epsom salt to make your soaking experience more relaxing. Oils such as lavender, chamomile, and eucalyptus make for a more enjoyable experience.

Another benefit of Epsom salt is that it is cheap. You can usually find a few pounds of Epsom salt for roughly $4.00 in most drug stores. There are also some salts that already have essential oil additives that are slightly more expensive.

Epsom salt can reduce the appearance of a fading bruise, aid in inflammation of bug bites, help remove splinters, and can be mixed in with your favorite face wash for an exfoliating effect. Take time at least once a week to relax your muscles and enjoy some you time. Surround yourself with candles and the aroma of lavender to ease your mind and body.

Sarah was raised in a household that was focused on clean eating by health conscious, bodybuilder parents. Today, she is a Registered Nurse in a hectic ICU that is responsible for caring for patients, many of whom have not made the best lifestyle and diet choices over the years.   Sarah decided it was time to take control of her body and achieve her own health pinnacle by setting her mind and putting 110% effort toward her goals.  That ‘no excuses’ attitude has earned her the title Bikini Champion and Fitness Model.  We love Sarah’s humble but positive attitude, her enthusiasm and lovably goofy nature. She proves that if you want it bad enough, you will make it happen!
